Fishing on Islay

We offer salmon and trout fishing breaks at The Machrie from £640 per person.

Islay has some spectacular fishing across the island in its lochs, rivers and out to sea. Whether fly fishing for salmon, wild brown trout, or sea fishing for mackerel, cod and pollock (and many more species!) fishing on Islay is an experience not to missed.

We work with local guides and ghillies to create the perfect bespoke trips for small groups of anglers. We can also arrange tuition for those looking for an introduction to the popular sport of fishing.

Salmon Fishing
We can arrange salmon fishing on Islay on some of the finest beats of the rivers throughout the island. The stunning scenery of this Scottish Hebridean island makes for a perfect fishing break in Scotland. The salmon fishing season runs from 25th February through to 31st October. All salmon fishing on Islay is catch and release.

Trout Fishing
Islay is a sought after destination for anglers wishing to book trout fishing in Scotland. Islay has many lochs, rivers and streams full of hard fighting wild brown trout. Loch fishing opportunities include Loch Gorm, Ballygrant, Skerrols, Finlaggan, Kinnabus, Lossit and Ardnahoe to name but a few. Loch Gorm is one of the best wild trout lochs in Europe.

Brown trout fishing is available from the 15th of March through to 6th of October.
